Panorama
Panorama looks at documents as a whole for potential sensitive information such as strategic, privileged, or commercially sensitive information. Panorama is designed to identify and redact sensitive information that may not be immediately apparent in individual documents, but could be critical to the overall security and compliance of an organization.
Panorama uses advanced natural language processing (NLP) to understand the context and meaning of the text, allowing it to identify sensitive information that goes beyond simple PII, such as:
- Strategic information: Plans for new products, market entry strategies, or merger and acquisition details.
- Privileged information: Legal advice, attorney-client communications, or proprietary research.
- Commercially sensitive information: Pricing strategies, supplier contracts, or trade secrets.
Panorama vs. Document Redaction
Standard document redaction allows you to select a policy that defines specific types of PII to redact (e.g., names, addresses, social security numbers). In contrast, Panorama analyzes documents as a whole to identify potentially sensitive sections of text regardless of whether they contain specific PII entities.
For example, Panorama may identify a paragraph as containing sensitive information about a new product that is being designed, even if no specific names or technical specifications are mentioned.
| Feature | Document Redaction | Panorama |
|---|---|---|
| Focus | Specific PII entities (Names, SSNs, etc.) | Contextual sensitive information |
| Configuration | Defined by a Redaction Policy | Analyzes document context automatically |
| Output | Redacted document with PII removed | Summary of sensitive findings and redactions |
| Use Case | Compliance (GDPR, HIPAA, etc.) | Protection of Intellectual Property and Strategy |
Why Use Panorama?
Organizations often handle documents that contain information that is sensitive in nature, but does not necessarily contain Personally Identifiable Information (PII). While standard redaction is excellent for compliance with privacy regulations like GDPR and HIPAA, it may miss broader risks to the organization's competitive advantage or legal standing.
Panorama provides several key benefits:
- Risk Mitigation: Identify documents that could expose the organization to legal or financial risk if leaked, even if they are "de-identified" from a PII perspective.
- Intellectual Property Protection: Automatically detect and flag documents containing trade secrets, proprietary research, or future product plans.
- Automated Discovery: Efficiently scan large volumes of documents to find those that require special handling or restricted access.
- Enhanced Compliance: Supplement PII-based redaction with a deeper layer of security that considers the overall intent and context of the information.
Examples
The following are some examples of how Panorama can be used across different industries and departments:
Product Development
As engineering and product teams collaborate, they create documents detailing future product roadmaps and technical innovations. Panorama can flag these documents to ensure they are not inadvertently shared outside of authorized channels.
Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A)
During due diligence, companies exchange vast amounts of documentation. Panorama can be used to scan these documents for sensitive deal terms, integration plans, or proprietary valuation models that should be restricted to a limited "clean room" team.
Legal Discovery
In legal proceedings, Panorama helps identify privileged attorney-client communications or work products that may not be caught by simple keyword searches but are protected by legal privilege based on their context.
How it Works
When you submit a document to Panorama, it undergoes a multi-stage analysis:
- Text Extraction: The document's text is extracted, preserving as much structural context as possible.
- Contextual Analysis: Panorama's NLP engine analyzes the text to identify themes, topics, and potentially sensitive information.
- Summary Generation: A summary of the sensitive information found in the document is generated, highlighting why certain sections were flagged.
- Tokenization: The analysis process is measured in tokens, which form the basis for billing.
Using Panorama
To use Panorama, follow these steps:
- Click the Panorama link in the navigation pane.
- Click the Upload Document button (or New Context depending on your dashboard version).
- Select the document you wish to analyze.
- Once the analysis is complete, the document will appear in the Panorama list.
- Click on the document to view the results of the Panorama analysis.
Interpreting Results
The Panorama results view provides a summary of the sensitive information identified. This summary helps you understand the potential risks associated with the document and decide on further actions, such as manual redaction or restricted access.
Each document in the Panorama list shows: * File Name: The name of the analyzed document. * Status: The current state of the analysis (e.g., Completed, Processing). * Tokens: The number of tokens consumed by the analysis. * Timestamp: When the analysis was performed.
Pricing
Panorama analyses are billed per token. For detailed pricing information, please refer to the Pricing page.
